‘Women Make Better DJs Than Men’ – DJ Lambo
Nigerian DJ Olawunmi Okerayi, known professionally as DJ Lambo, has boldly declared that women are superior DJs to their male counterparts, emphasizing the added effort women put into their careers in a male-dominated industry.
In a recent appearance on The Truth Podcast, hosted by Mory Coco, DJ Lambo shared her belief that female DJs face greater challenges and must work twice as hard to achieve half of what their male peers receive. She highlighted the talents of fellow DJ and actress DSF, stating, “Women are even better DJs than men… DSF is that babe that can actually DJ; she’s actually hot, and she can actually act.”
The renowned DJ also spoke on her personal experience and journey into music, revealing that her father, whom she later learned had been a DJ himself, played a key role in sparking her interest in the field. She said, “I didn’t know my dad was a DJ until I became a DJ. And my mum was like, ‘Your dad used to be a DJ.’ I was like, ‘Oh, no wonder.’”
Despite her success, DJ Lambo acknowledged the challenges she faces, particularly the physical strain of carrying heavy equipment, which remains one of the most demanding aspects of her profession. Her comments have sparked a conversation on the continued struggle for gender equality in the entertainment industry.
