Actress Ayo Mogaji Opens Up About Leaving 13-Year Marriage Due to Abuse
Veteran Nollywood actress Ayo Mogaji has revealed the reasons behind her decision to end her 13-year marriage with retired footballer Victor Ayodele Oduleye. In a candid interview on actress Biola Bayo’s ‘Talk To Be’ podcast, Mogaji recounted the abuse she endured throughout their relationship.
The DAILY POST previously reported that Mogaji, who has a 20-year-old son with fellow actor Jibola Dabo, married Oduleye in 2006. Despite their initial love, the marriage quickly became marred by physical and emotional abuse.
“We fell in love with each other, but I endured beatings over any little thing,” Mogaji disclosed. “Even in England, the abusive language, the mental torture, the physical abuse – when it gets too much, I will advise anybody to get out of that marriage.”
Mogaji described the extent of the abuse, noting that she would often leave the house to avoid being alone with Oduleye. “It got to a stage where, when it was just the two of us at home, I would go outside and sit until someone else came around to prevent being abused. We were in it for thirteen years, and we have been separated for four years now,” she shared.
Her brave disclosure sheds light on the challenges many face in abusive relationships, emphasizing the importance of seeking safety and support.
