Adekunle Gold Urges Men to Prioritize Self-Care for Healthier Living

Nigerian musician Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, has taken to his official X account to advocate for men to pay closer attention to their health and well-being.

In a candid message, the singer highlighted the stark reality that men generally have shorter lifespans than women. “Men, take care of yourself. Grandma outnumbers grandpa in this world,” he wrote.

The advice echoes a 2019 analysis by the World Health Organization (WHO), revealing that women tend to outlive men due to men’s tendency to seek healthcare services less frequently than women.

The WHO’s examination of global health statistics discussed the disparities in life expectancy, stating that in Africa, a baby boy born in 2016 could expect to live to about age 60, while a baby girl could expect to live up to 63 years. This discrepancy emphasizes the importance of men’s healthcare engagement to achieve longer, healthier lives.
