Anne Heche’s Estate Struggles to Settle Debts, Legal Documents Reveal

The estate of the late Anne Heche, known for her roles in films such as “Return to Paradise,” faces financial challenges in settling outstanding debts following her tragic passing in August 2022. Court documents filed by her son, Homer Laffoon, shed light on the estate’s financial status, indicating an inability to meet pending charges.

According to reports from People magazine, Anne’s estate comprises various assets, including a modest bank account, royalty payments, residual income from prior projects, and holdings in entertainment-related ventures. Despite accruing approximately $110,000 from some assets, the estate faces substantial creditor claims totalling over $6 million.

Among the creditors are individuals impacted by the car accident that resulted in Anne’s demise, including the owners of the Los Angeles property she collided with and their tenant, who suffered property loss. Additionally, Anne’s former partner, Thomas Jane, has filed a claim seeking almost $150,000 from the estate.

With creditor claims surpassing the estate’s anticipated value, Homer, 22, acknowledged the inability to settle all debts fully. However, he affirmed ongoing efforts to negotiate settlements with creditors, aiming to resolve claims amicably without resorting to litigation.

Despite hopes of revenue generation from Anne’s posthumous memoir, “Call Me Anne,” sales have reportedly been tepid, with total income projected to be less than $25,000.

Anne’s tragic accident left her in a coma for a week before being declared legally deceased. Her family made the compassionate decision to maintain her on life support for an additional two days to facilitate the organ donation process, honouring her legacy even in her passing.

As legal proceedings unfold, Homer remains committed to navigating the complexities of Anne’s estate, striving to address outstanding obligations while preserving her memory and contributions to the entertainment industry.
