Armed Robbers Attack Italian Football Legend Roberto Baggio at Home
Former Italian football star Roberto Baggio experienced a harrowing attack in his home while watching the Euro 2024 match between Spain and Italy.
According to The Sun, five armed men broke into Baggio’s residence. Baggio attempted to fend off the intruders, but he and his family were overpowered and confined to a closet. The robbers made off with jewellery and watches before Baggio managed to free himself and contact the police.
In a statement released to an Italian news agency, Baggio recounted the ordeal: “Anything can happen under such circumstances. Fortunately, the violence only resulted in some stitches, bruises, and a lot of fear. Now we have to get over the fear.”
The 57-year-old football icon was rushed to the hospital, where he received treatment for multiple bruises and spent the rest of the night.
Baggio, who has a storied career with 56 caps and 27 goals for Italy, also played for top clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, and AC Milan.
