Arsenal Unveils 2024-25 Away Kit Celebrating African Heritage
Arsenal has unveiled their stunning 2024-25 away kit, paying homage to the African heritage of many of their fans in London and around the world.
Designed in collaboration with Labrum London, a brand known for its British African cultural influences, the jersey draws inspiration from the continent that has produced iconic former Gunners such as Emmanuel Adebayor, Nwankwo Kanu, and Kolo Touré. The launch video features Kanu alongside current stars Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, and Leah Williamson.
The shirt features a sleek black base accented with vibrant red and green logos and shoulder decorations. A striking white zig-zag pattern, symbolic of cowrie shells, runs down the arms and sides. Cowrie shells, historically used as currency in parts of Asia and the Eastern coast of Africa, add a layer of cultural significance to the design. The red, green, and black colour scheme reflects the Pan-African flag, a symbol of the African diaspora since the 1920s.
In addition to the kit, Arsenal and Labrum London have released a matching apparel range, including two jackets, a sweater, a T-shirt, and track pants. The brightly coloured T-shirt stands out and is expected to be popular among fans at the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta’s squad aims to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
This new kit and apparel collection not only celebrates African heritage but also strengthens the connection between Arsenal and its diverse fan base.
