Biodun Okeowo Blames Nollywood Marketers for Career Setback
Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has revealed that industry marketers forced her out of acting by blacklisting her after she refused to meet their demands.
Okeowo, who has been noticeably absent from the screen for years, shared her ordeal in an Instagram post on Friday, responding to fans questioning her disappearance from the industry.
According to the actress, she faced intense pressure from marketers who allegedly punished her for refusing to compromise herself.
“Marketers were the reason I left the industry after they blacklisted me for refusing to remove my panties. They told producers not to cast me and even took my image off the poster of a film where I played the lead role,” she wrote.
Okeowo, who tied the knot with her US-based partner, Adeniyi Olabiyi, in July 2024, said the situation pushed her to lose passion for acting and eventually walk away from the industry.
“They did so much damage to my career that I got tired and left. I developed so much hatred for a job I once loved and started rejecting roles,” she added.
Despite her past struggles, the actress expressed gratitude for her current success, declaring herself “a living testimony.”
