British Actor Bernard Hill of ‘Titanic’ is Dead

Bernard Hill, the esteemed British actor renowned for his memorable roles in blockbuster films such as ‘Titanic’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’, has passed away at the age of 79.

His agent, Lou Coulson, confirmed Hill’s demise, revealing that the actor breathed his last on Sunday morning, surrounded by his fiancée Alison and his son Gabriel.

Hill’s illustrious career spanned decades, with one of his breakthrough moments coming in the 1982 BBC TV drama ‘Boys from the Blackstuff’, where his performance garnered widespread acclaim.

However, it was his roles in major Hollywood productions that catapulted him to international stardom. Hill’s portrayal of Captain Edward Smith in the 1997 Oscar-winning epic ‘Titanic’ solidified his place in cinematic history. Additionally, his portrayal of King Théoden in the iconic ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy further showcased his versatility and talent as an actor.
