Burberry’s Front-Row Surprise: Saka and Son’s Awkward Meeting Ahead of North London Derby
Bukayo Saka and Son Heung-min, stars from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, found themselves in an unexpected encounter at a Burberry fashion show during the lead-up to the highly anticipated north London derby.
The two football giants are gearing up for a face-off at the Emirates Stadium, set to take place on Sunday. Both Arsenal and Tottenham have kicked off the 2023-24 campaign in stellar form, each accumulating an impressive 13 points from five matches.
In a rare moment of relaxation before the intense clash, Saka and Son decided to attend London Fashion Week, specifically the Burberry spring-summer 2024 show at Highbury Fields in Islington—an area synonymous with Arsenal’s territory. Interestingly, they were seated side by side in the front row, potentially adding an extra layer of tension to their rivalry.
While cameras turned away from the runway and towards the football stars, Saka and Son engaged in a brief conversation, although they appeared somewhat awkward in each other’s company. Their moment together was short-lived, as Crystal Palace’s playmaker, Eberechi Eze, who also happens to be an England teammate of Saka’s, arrived and occupied the seat between them.
Notably, Son has been a Burberry ambassador since the summer of 2022, and he has featured in various photoshoots for the fashion house under the creative direction of Daniel Lee. On the football front, Son recently achieved a Premier League hat-trick in a match against Burnley, while Saka has contributed two goals in his five top-flight appearances for Arsenal.
