Chidimma Adetshina Crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 After Xenophobic Backlash in South Africa
Chidimma Adetshina, a 23-year-old law student, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, following a tumultuous experience in South Africa where she was forced to withdraw from a similar pageant due to xenophobic sentiments.
Adetshina’s victory was announced during the grand finale at Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos on Saturday night. Guy Murray-Bruce, President of the Silverbird Group, which organizes the competition, declared her the winner among 25 contestants.
Adetshina, who represented Taraba State, came to Nigeria to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant after facing xenophobic backlash that led to her controversial exit from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition. Despite the challenges, her determination and grace won her the title, marking a significant triumph in her pageant journey.
