Critics Concerned About My Family But Don’t Pay My Children’s School Fees – 2Baba

Popular Nigerian singer, Innocent Ujah Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has addressed the constant scrutiny his family faces from Nigerians. The iconic African Queen singer revealed that despite presenting a tough exterior against public opinion, he still experiences hurtful moments when his family is criticized.

2Baba, a father of seven, expressed his frustration with those who label him as a neglectful father to his children while not stepping forward to support them financially. He made these remarks during his appearance on the Afrobeats podcast hosted by British-Nigerian media personality, Adesope Olajide.

In the podcast episode, 2Baba highlighted the complexity of family dynamics, emphasizing that there isn’t a singular correct approach. He explained, “The basic truth of the whole matter is the connection with you and your little ones [children]. There is so many different ways to find it. There’s no one rule or one particular way.”

He also shared his parenting philosophy, stating that he communicates with his children as equals, avoiding a dictatorial approach. He expressed his feelings about facing online criticism, likening some comments to acts of terrorism. Despite the criticism, he lamented that those same critics do not extend any assistance when it comes to his children’s education expenses.

The artist’s family life has been a subject of discussion among Nigerians, particularly due to his complex relationships with multiple mothers of his children. His marriage to actress Annie Macaulay in 2012 was marred by controversies, including allegations of infidelity. However, 2Baba has been vocal about debunking rumours and focusing on his role as a father.

In addressing these issues on the Afrobeats podcast, 2Baba sheds light on the personal toll that public scrutiny can have on celebrities’ lives, providing insight into the challenges of maintaining a balanced family life amidst public attention.
