Davido Did Not Show Up for Our Event Despite Being Paid N72m – Ex-NFF President, Pinnick Alleges
Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has raised concerns about singer Davido’s alleged failure to appear at the 19th edition of the Warri Again festival, despite reportedly receiving a substantial payment of over $94,600 (equivalent to about 72 million naira).
Pinnick, a prominent sports administrator, made these claims during his address at the event, which took place in Warri, Delta State. He revealed that the festival organizers had also arranged for a private jet, costing $18,000, to transport Davido to the event.
Speaking in Pidgin, Pinnick expressed his disappointment, stating, “We paid Davido $94,600 on the 6th of April. We paid $18,000 for his plane. If he claims to be a big shot, we would have told him that we are bigger than him.”
He continued, “I’m not joking. So, while he was playing games and going back and forth, we decided to look for another artist, Shallipopi.”
Pinnick also highlighted the significance of the Warri community in the entertainment industry, emphasizing the talent that has emerged from the region. He pointed out that even the biggest artists in Nigeria, such as Burna Boy, have ties to Warri, making it a significant hub for talent.
He concluded by saying, “When people claim to be big, I just laugh. Isn’t Burna Boy the biggest artist in Nigeria today? Burna Boy is partially Itsekiri. His paternal grandmother is Itsekiri. So, he is even bigger. Can anyone claim to be bigger than RMD in the acting industry? Can anyone claim to be bigger than Ali Baba in comedy? Warri consistently produces top talents. Nobody can claim to be bigger than Warri.”
