D’banj Enters Nigerian Football Scene with Launch of Koko FC
Nigerian music superstar Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, has taken a bold step into the world of sports by launching his own football club, Koko FC. The club’s debut comes just days after fellow entertainment mogul Don Jazzy announced his own team, Supremos FC, intensifying excitement around the growing celebrity involvement in Nigerian football.
Koko FC is set to compete for the league’s grand prize of N50 million—the largest payout per game in the Nigerian football league to date. To build a strong team, D’banj is inviting aspiring players to share a one-minute video of their football skills on The Cream platform, with top-voted candidates securing an invitation for a final physical trial.
D’banj announced the initiative on X, stating, “Upload a 1-minute video of your skills on the pitch… The top voted players each week will be picked, and we’ll meet up on the pitch for a physical game to select the team!”
Koko FC’s launch has been met with enthusiasm from fans and sports lovers, marking a significant venture for D’banj as he expands his influence into Nigerian football and adds fresh momentum to the league.
