EPL: Haaland to Become Highest Earner as Man City Set to Double His Wages

Manchester City is taking steps to secure the future of Erling Haaland by nearly doubling his current wages, a move aimed at fending off interest from Real Madrid, as reported by the Daily Star.

The Norwegian striker is already earning a weekly salary of £375,000, putting him on par with Kevin De Bruyne as the joint-highest earner at the Etihad Stadium. However, City is determined to present Haaland with a substantially improved contract that would see his weekly earnings rise to £600,000.

Although Haaland’s existing deal with the Premier League champions extends until 2027, the club is eager to negotiate an extension with the 23-year-old forward. Manchester City is mindful of the lure of lucrative offers from clubs such as Real Madrid, as demonstrated by Riyad Mahrez’s recent departure to the Middle East.

Should Haaland accept the proposed new contract, he would find himself among football’s top 10 highest earners, boasting an annual salary of £32.5 million. This substantial financial commitment underscores City’s determination to retain the services of one of the sport’s most promising talents and bolster its squad for future successes.
