Harrison Ford ‘Loves’ Being Older and Doesn’t Yearn to be Young Again

Veteran actor Harrison Ford, famed for his iconic roles including ‘Indiana Jones,’ ‘Star Wars,’ and many more, has shared his contentment with ageing and his journey through life, as he discusses his latest film and his thoughts on technological advancements in filmmaking.

At the age of 81, Ford recently concluded his adventure as the intrepid archaeologist Indiana Jones in the fifth instalment of the series, ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.’ While addressing the use of AI technology to create a de-aged version of himself in the film, Ford expressed his approval of the result.

He shared his insights with Reader’s Digest UK, stating, “The technology has evolved to the point where it seems very realistic. And I know that that is my face, it’s not kind of photoshopped magic; that’s what I actually looked like 35 years ago–because Lucas Film has every frame of film that we’ve made together over all of these years.”

Ford emphasized the importance of this technological feat being supported by a compelling story, saying, “But it’s just a trick unless it’s supported by a good story. And it sticks out like a sore thumb if it’s not real—I’m not talking about visually, I mean emotionally real. And so I think it was used very skillfully and assiduously. I’m very happy with it.”

While discussing his journey through time and his thoughts on the passage of years, Ford revealed his appreciation for the present stage of his life. He stated, “But I don’t look back and say, ‘I wish I was that guy again’—because I don’t. I’m real happy with age. I love being older. It was great to be young, but sh**fire, I could be dead! And I’m still working. So, go figure.”

Despite his admiration for his current phase in life, Ford does not anticipate retiring from the acting industry. With his characteristic wit, he humorously addressed the question of retirement, saying, “Is it not evident? I need to sit down and rest a little bit, y’know?”
