Huawei Rumoured to Launch Next-Gen Triple-Foldable Phone in 2025
Huawei may soon expand its groundbreaking triple-foldable smartphone lineup, with reports hinting at a new device launching next year. Tech tipster SmartPikachu claims the Chinese tech giant is preparing to update its tri-fold series, following the recent debut of the Mate XT.
The Mate XT, launched in September, introduced Huawei as the first company to deliver a tri-fold smartphone, earning praise for its innovative design and AI-powered features. Now, speculation suggests the next-generation triple-foldable, possibly dubbed Mate XT 2, could arrive with significant improvements. Industry insiders anticipate enhancements in durability, structural strength, and overall design—addressing feedback from the first iteration.
While Huawei has yet to confirm these rumors, the whispers underscore the company’s continued push to lead the emerging tri-fold smartphone market. Consumers worldwide are still eager for a broader rollout of the Mate XT, which remains limited to select markets.
The Mate XT impressed with its triple-fold form factor, offering a 10.2-inch OLED LTPO display capable of rich visuals with 1440Hz PWM dimming and a 240Hz touch response rate. The device’s durable dual-hinge technology, constructed with ultra-strong rocket steel, further demonstrated Huawei’s engineering prowess. Combined with a 50MP triple-camera system and a 5600mAh battery supporting fast wired and wireless charging, the Mate XT set a new benchmark for foldable devices.
Huawei’s success has sparked interest from other tech giants. Samsung, Xiaomi, and Honor are reportedly advancing their tri-foldable prototypes. Samsung, which was once Huawei’s main competitor for the “world’s first tri-fold phone” title, is still developing its version. Meanwhile, Honor is rumored to debut its first triple-fold smartphone in the first half of 2025.
As competition heats up in the foldable device market, Huawei’s rumored next-generation triple-fold smartphone could further solidify its position as a leader in innovation. Until official announcements are made, consumers and tech enthusiasts alike will have to wait for confirmation of the company’s plans.
