‘I Never Said My Ex-Wife Married Me For Money’ – Julius Agwu
Veteran comedian and actor, Julius Agwu, has come forward to deny recent media reports suggesting that he implied his former wife, Ibiere Maclayton, married him for financial gain. The rumours emerged following an interview that Agwu had reportedly given to the media.
The purported statement caused a stir as it seemed to suggest that Agwu had insinuated that his ex-wife’s primary motivation for marrying him was his financial status at the time. However, Agwu, in an effort to clarify the situation, addressed the matter during an Instagram live session with media personality Daddy Freeze.
During the session, Daddy Freeze posed the question that was on the minds of many: “They said you said your wife, IB, married you because of money. Please, address that.”
Agwu promptly responded, dismissing the alleged statement and setting the record straight: “I was interviewed by The Punch. I never said anything like that. I saw that thing recently, Segun Arinze sent it to me. I can never debase myself like that. My former wife never married me for any money. And Julius Agwu never said that. She is the mother of my children. I can never say something like that about her.”
The clarification from Agwu reaffirms his stance and underscores the significance he places on maintaining respect for his former spouse, particularly as they share children together.
