Kendrick Lamar Surpasses Drake with New Streaming Record for “Not Like Us”
Kendrick Lamar has once again outperformed Drake, as his track “Not Like Us” sets a new record on Spotify. On Saturday (May 25), it was announced that Kendrick’s diss track directed at Drake surpassed Drake’s “God’s Plan” as the fastest rap song to reach 200 million streams on the platform, achieving this milestone in just 19 days according to RapTV on X (formerly Twitter).
This achievement follows another record-breaking moment earlier in May when “Not Like Us” became the fastest song in hip-hop history to reach 100 million streams on Spotify, dethroning Drake’s previous record held by his song from the album Scorpion.
The intense rivalry between the two artists has dominated the Billboard Hot 100 as well. “Not Like Us” debuted at No. 1 on the chart released on May 13 and is currently at No. 2. Kendrick’s earlier diss track, “Euphoria,” remains in the top 10, sitting at No. 11 after peaking at No. 3.
Conversely, Drake’s response track “Family Matters” entered the chart at No. 7 but has since fallen to No. 19. Meanwhile, Kendrick’s “Meet the Grahams” is holding at No. 23.
Mustard, the producer of “Not Like Us,” celebrated the success, expressing his pride in being back at the top. “Sometimes you really gotta pop out and show n-ggas!!!!” he exclaimed, emphasizing his unwavering confidence and the resurgence of Los Angeles in the music scene.
Kendrick Lamar’s entire discography has seen a significant boost in the Billboard 200 chart as well. His album DAMN. climbed from No. 41 to No. 15, good kid, m.A.A.d city rose to No. 19 from No. 51, and Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers jumped to No. 59 from No. 192. Additionally, To Pimp a Butterfly re-entered the chart at No. 122 after previously falling out of the top 200.
This ongoing success and the record-breaking achievements solidify Kendrick Lamar’s position at the forefront of the rap industry, continuing to eclipse his contemporaries, including Drake.
