Live Nation Reports Ticketmaster Data Breach on Dark Web
Live Nation has reported that a hacker is attempting to sell alleged user data from Ticketmaster on the dark web. The revelation came in a regulatory filing on Friday, detailing the unauthorized activity discovered on May 20. Live Nation, Ticketmaster’s parent company, immediately launched an investigation with forensic experts.
According to the filing, the data was put up for sale on May 27. Live Nation is collaborating with law enforcement to address the breach. “As appropriate, we are also notifying regulatory authorities and users regarding unauthorized access to personal information,” the filing stated.
Live Nation assured that the hack has not impacted its financial status or business operations. Reports from trade publications indicate that the hacker group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for the breach. However, Ticketmaster has not responded to multiple requests for comment, and the extent of the data breach remains unconfirmed.
This incident comes amid a challenging year for Ticketmaster. Recently, the US government and several states filed lawsuits against Live Nation, accusing Ticketmaster of leveraging its market dominance to disadvantage fans across the country.
