Chude Jideonwo Appointed First Creative-in-Residence at London School of Economics

Chude Jideonwo, renowned host of #WithChude and founder of Joy, Inc., has been appointed the inaugural Creative-in-Residence at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

This prestigious appointment recognizes Jideonwo’s significant contributions to media and youth engagement across Africa. His work in building influential media platforms and inspiring a new generation of leaders through storytelling has garnered widespread acclaim.

In his new role, Jideonwo will collaborate with LSE to enhance and accelerate the creative industries across Africa. He will leverage the institution’s extensive resources, networks, and partnerships to achieve this goal.

Martha Geiger Mwenitete, representing the LSE’s Institute for Africa, emphasized the importance of the program and Jideonwo’s impact: “Our residents’ program is part of our strategy to connect with platforms and creative sectors across Africa. We are thrilled to welcome Chude as our first creative-in-residence. His involvement will be instrumental in engaging colleagues in various creative initiatives we are planning.”

Expressing his excitement, Jideonwo, a Yale and Archbishop Tutu Fellow, said: “This is an incredible honor and was completely unexpected. It’s a validation of our decision to focus solely on impactful work and the efforts we continue to pursue. I love the LSE campus and have been heartened by my interactions with the institute. I can’t wait to get started.”

The residency, commencing in September 2024, will be hosted by the LSE Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa (FLIA). The institute is dedicated to engaging with Africa through innovative research, teaching, and public events, underscoring LSE’s commitment to placing Africa at the center of global discussions and understanding.
