Ludacris Ventures into TV with BET Series Inspired by DJ Roots

In an exciting development, Ludacris is set to make his mark on the small screen with a forthcoming series on BET, drawing inspiration from his early days as DJ Chris Lova Lova in Atlanta.

The untitled project, revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, is slated to be a 30-minute dramedy exploring Ludacris’s journey as a DJ in the hip-hop scene. The series will centre around a dynamic ensemble striving to go to great lengths to enhance ratings at their hip-hop radio station.

Ludacris, serving as both a producer and the music supervisor for the show, brings a wealth of experience and authenticity to the project. Comedian Noah Gardenswartz, recognized for his work on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” is set to pen the series, with Larry Wilmore, Malcolm D. Lee, and Ludacris’s manager, Chaka Zulu, joining as producers.

The collaboration falls under the Universal banner, solidifying Ludacris’s 20-year relationship with the studio, primarily established through the Fast & Furious film series.

The multifaceted artist, widely known for his role as Tej Parker in the Fast & Furious franchise, expands his television presence. Ludacris recently confirmed his role as one of the new hosts on Netflix’s “Rhythm & Flow,” sharing the screen with DJ Khaled and Latto.

While conquering the realms of television, Ludacris is gearing up for a return to the music scene. His last album, “Ludaversal,” released in 2015, left fans anticipating new material. In an interview with BET in November, Ludacris hinted at upcoming musical projects.

“Yeah, some music projects will be coming out next year. I don’t wanna fake, I don’t wanna stutter-step. I don’t wanna be like [André] 3000 and say, ‘I got an album coming out.’ I don’t know. It’s definitely some music coming next year, but I don’t know if it’s like an EP or an LP. We’re going to figure it out.”

Ludacris opened up about his musical hiatus, attributing it to his involvement in various projects such as the Fast & Furious series and the Netflix animated series “Karma’s World.”

“These movie projects like Fast & Furious and doing a lot of things like the Karma’s World project that’s on Netflix — you know, doing other art forms where I’m creative, where I’m putting my heart into that — I want to make sure that I leave a legacy on this earth. So it was just taking a step back and getting hungry again, living some life,” he explained.

The multifaceted artist emphasized the importance of authenticity in his music, suggesting that a break allowed him to accumulate experiences that would resonate with listeners. Ludacris’s upcoming projects, both on the screen and in the studio, are sure to captivate fans eager for the next chapter in his creative journey.
