Nigerian Rapper Oladips Accuses Wizkid of Intellectual Property Theft
Nigerian rapper Oladips has publicly accused Grammy-winning artist Wizkid of using his lyrics without permission. The rapper claims that Wizkid borrowed a portion of the lyrics from his song “Ajala Travel Remix” in Wizkid’s recent collaboration with Asake, titled “MMS.”
Taking to Instagram, Oladips shared side-by-side screenshots of the lyrics from both tracks, pointing out the similarities. While a fan commented that such sampling is “normal” in the music industry, Oladips responded that it is only acceptable when the original artist is acknowledged.
“It’s normal if you acknowledge the source! No be say dem go dey pretend like say dem no know you but come dey bite your lyrics for corner,” Oladips wrote.
As of now, Wizkid has not responded to the allegations.
