North West Shines at Star-Studded ‘Lion King’ 30th Anniversary Concert
Kanye West’s eldest daughter, North West, made a memorable appearance at the star-studded 30th anniversary concert for “The Lion King,” held at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday, May 24. The 10-year-old captivated the audience with her powerful performance of “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” earning a standing ovation from the crowd.
The event was attended by a host of celebrities, including North’s parents Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, as well as Kourtney Kardashian, Travis Barker, and Kris Jenner. The celebration marked three decades since the release of the iconic 1994 film and featured performances by notable artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Jeremy Irons, and Jason Weaver. The live-to-film concert is set to be released on Disney+ following its two-show run.
In a related announcement last month, it was revealed that Beyoncé will return to the “Lion King” franchise for a prequel to the 2019 remake. The prequel, titled “Mufasa: The Lion King,” will feature Beyoncé’s daughter, 12-year-old Blue Ivy, as Simba and Nala’s daughter, Kiara. The film, set to premiere on December 20, will explore Mufasa’s origin story and his childhood with Scar, with music composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
North West has already made a name for herself in the music industry with a cameo on her father’s collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign. In late February, Billboard reported that North’s feature on the track “Talking” secured her a spot on their Hot 100 tally, making her one of the youngest artists to achieve this milestone.
Ye and Kim Kardashian proudly celebrated North’s accomplishment on social media, with Kim sharing the news on Instagram Stories, captioning it “My baby!!!!”
The collaborative album by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, generating 148,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. The success included 167.78 million on-demand streams, 18,000 in pure album sales, and 1,000 track equivalent album (TEA) units.
North West’s rising stardom continues to shine brightly, marking her as a young talent to watch in the entertainment industry.
