Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Explains Her Breaks from Nollywood
Veteran Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, widely known as Omosexy, has opened up about her periodic breaks from the film industry, addressing fans’ concerns over her absence from the screen. The 46-year-old actress clarified her decision in a recent Instagram post, where she revealed that her time away from acting is intentional and necessary for her well-being.
Omotola, who began her acting career at the age of 15, shared that after years of continuous work, taking time to recharge has become crucial. “I know many don’t understand why I take time off movies for a few years and then come back again,” she wrote. She emphasized the importance of taking breaks to “relax, relive, relearn, and recharge,” adding that working from such a young age has made this practice essential for her.
She also noted that she recently returned to Nigeria in December and filmed two movies in February before taking another break in March.
Omotola made her Nollywood debut in 1995, starring as the lead in Venom of Justice. Since then, she has become one of the most iconic figures in the Nigerian film industry.
