‘Only Few Nigerian Artists are Not Cultists’ – Naira Marley Claims

Nigerian rapper and singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has raised fresh concerns about the presence of cultism within the country’s music industry.

The controversial artist alleged that only a small number of Nigerian musicians have managed to stay away from cult groups, describing the trend as deeply troubling. According to him, many artists join cults in search of influence, power, and protection.

In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Naira Marley mocked the situation, suggesting that even those who recruit others into cult groups still rely on police escorts for their own safety.

“We no reach five wey never join cult for this industry. Person wey put you for cult self dey carry police escort up and down,” he wrote.

The singer has previously denied claims linking him to cultism, maintaining that he is not a member of any group. In earlier statements, he said he was once threatened by cultists for refusing to join them, insisting that he chose to stay away despite the pressure.

His comments have since sparked conversations online, with fans and critics debating the influence of cultism and street affiliations within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
