Paul George Confirms End of Signature Sneaker Line with Nike, Retro Releases Planned

Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George has officially confirmed the conclusion of his signature sneaker line after six models, according to an announcement made to SneakerReporter.com on Sunday night. While this marks the end of new additions to his signature line, George shared that he will continue his partnership with Nike, which plans to release retro editions of his earlier basketball shoes.

George’s association with Nike dates back to his rookie season in 2010, and his signature line made its debut in 2017. Throughout its existence, the Nike PG line gained popularity among players and fans for its combination of cutting-edge technology, vibrant colourways, and an affordable price point.

Speculations about the discontinuation of George’s line began when he started donning sneakers from the Nike Kobe line in November 2022. This timing coincided with Nike’s launch of signature sneaker lines for NBA stars Ja Morant and Devin Booker.

Although George’s sneaker run may not be the lengthiest, it was highly regarded for its consistently positive reception and minimal controversies, with only a notable exception being Zion Williamson’s sneaker blowout during his time with the Duke Blue Devils.

Despite George being 33 years old, earning an All-Star nod last season, and playing for the championship-contending Los Angeles Clippers, the decision to conclude his successful sneaker line may raise eyebrows. The sneaker industry is known for its dynamic nature, and George’s move to retro releases could provide fans with an opportunity to revisit and collect his earlier iconic designs.
