PlayStation Officially Unveils Brand-New Console

The PlayStation Showcase has come to an end, leaving us with some exciting announcements. While there wasn’t the much-anticipated redesigned PS5 console with a detachable disc drive, PlayStation has made a surprising move by re-entering the handheld console market.

Let’s recap the highlights of the event. As expected, we were treated to a gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, revealing the exciting presence of Kraven The Hunter as a villain. The gameplay looks stunning, although we are still eagerly waiting for a release date.

Additionally, we got a first look at Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s gameplay, which was an unexpected surprise. Finally, the long-rumored remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 was officially confirmed, even though the dead frog trailer left some of us puzzled for a while.

Now, let’s delve into the hardware news. Introducing Project Q, PlayStation’s latest handheld device designed for playing your favorite titles through PS5 Remote Play. In terms of appearance and functionality, it resembles a hybrid between a Nintendo Switch and a DualSense controller. The device features a large tablet-like screen with two halves of a DualSense remote on either side, allowing you to enjoy all the capabilities of a DualSense controller while on the go.

Jim Ryan, the head of Sony, described the device, stating, “Innovation is our passion, and that applies to not just what games you play, but how you play them. Later this year, we will launch a device that enables you to stream any game from your PS5 over Wi-Fi. Internally known as Project Q, it has an eight-inch HD screen and all of the buttons and features of the DualSense wireless controller. We look forward to sharing more information in the near future.”

Since he mentioned that it’s internally called Project Q, we can expect a snazzy new name for the device in the future. As for a release date, it remains unspecified, with only the promise of a launch “later this year.” Undoubtedly, this product has the potential to become a must-have for PlayStation fans, and I am personally excited to get my hands on one.
