Sean Kingston Arrested Mid-Concert on Fraud and Theft Charges
Pop star Sean Kingston was arrested on stage during a performance at Fort Irwin, California, on charges of fraud and theft. The arrest occurred just hours after a SWAT team apprehended his mother, Janice Turner, at his Florida mansion on similar charges.
Kingston, known for hits like “Beautiful Girls” and “Eenie Meenie,” was entertaining U.S. Army personnel when law enforcement intervened. Video footage captured the moment police watched from the audience as Kingston performed. He was subsequently booked into a San Bernardino jail and now faces extradition to Florida, where the charges originated.
Earlier in the day, Kingston’s mother was also taken into custody, accused of numerous fraud and theft offences. Following these events, Kingston took to Instagram to proclaim his innocence, stating, “People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
The charges against Kingston stem from a lawsuit filed by Ver Ver Entertainment LLC, alleging breach of contract and fraud. The company claims Kingston contacted them to purchase a large TV and sound system valued at over $100,000. Kingston reportedly paid a $30,000 down payment and promised a second payment of $47,000, with the balance to be covered through promotional videos and social media posts featuring Justin Bieber. However, Kingston allegedly failed to make the second payment and did not fulfil his promotional commitments.
This isn’t the first time Kingston has faced accusations of failing to pay for high-end items. In November, watch company Dream Watch sought over $1 million from Kingston for two unpaid watches: a Richard Mille Model RM 65.01 Automatic and a Patek Philippe Calibre. According to Dream Watch, Kingston contacted them in 2022 to buy the watches, but despite numerous promises to wire the funds, he never completed the payment. The company claims Kingston’s excuses persisted for months until he ceased communication entirely.
As Kingston awaits his trial, the legal battles continue to mount, with significant implications for his career and personal life.
