Simi Addresses Backlash Over Swimsuit at Poolside Event
Nigerian singer Simi has responded to critics following a public outcry over her recent appearance at a poolside event in a revealing swimsuit. Despite being married, Simi faced significant backlash on social media for her choice of attire.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Simi addressed the criticism with a touch of sarcasm. She offered a mock apology, acknowledging the comments and expressing her supposed regret for not being more mindful.
“I just came here feeling repentant. Guys, yesterday I went to the swimming pool wearing a swimsuit and I’m so sorry. Honestly, I wasn’t thinking. I should have known better. I didn’t know better. I’m sorry,” she said in the video.
Simi went on to humorously promise that she would be more cautious in the future, saying, “Next time I go to the swimming pool, just in respect to my husband, I will wear a kaftan. I will do better. Better than the best. I don’t want to disappoint you and give you any reason to look down on me and my marriage.”
Her response has sparked further discussion on social media about societal expectations and personal freedom.
