Skales Denies Divorcing Wife Over Social Media Mockery

Nigerian singer John Njenga-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has refuted a widely circulated claim that he divorced his wife, Precious Hassanity, because she allegedly mocked his music career online.

The rumour began after an X user, @Verity_HQ, attributed a quote to Skales suggesting that he ended his marriage due to a comment his wife allegedly made on social media that aligned with trolls criticising his career. The user claimed Skales expressed regret over her lack of support, suggesting that a partner who doesn’t defend one’s hustle isn’t a good wife.

However, the “Shake Body” crooner has dismissed the claim, calling the report entirely fabricated. Taking to social media, Skales described the post as “false,” “evil,” and “unfair,” and urged those behind it to stop spreading misinformation.

“This is really evil of you—that you would cook up such a story. This is not fair. I have never made such a statement and this is false. Please stop spreading lies,” he wrote.

Skales married Precious, a professional chef, in September 2021. In 2022, fans speculated about trouble in the marriage after he posted emotionally charged messages following his mother’s passing and shared snippets of a song many believed was directed at his wife.

Despite past tensions, the singer has now made it clear that recent claims circulating about the reason for his divorce are untrue.
