Speed Darlington, Diddy and Burna Boy

Speed Darlington Breaks Silence After Release From Prolonged Detention

Controversial Nigerian artist Speed Darlington has spoken out following his release from detention, offering defiant remarks after months of incarceration.

The singer, known for his outspoken nature, was first arrested in October 2024 for alleged cyberstalking. His arrest followed comments attributing Burna Boy’s Grammy win to the influence of embattled American rapper Diddy, who is currently facing multiple charges, including sex trafficking and rape.

After initially being granted bail, Speed Darlington was rearrested in November during a performance in Imo State and subsequently detained at Kuje prison. His lawyer alleged that Burna Boy had bribed authorities to extend the detention despite a Federal High Court ruling for his release on December 23.

Darlington’s release finally came on January 21, 2025. However, Burna Boy reportedly warned in a since-deleted Instagram post that any further “misbehaviour” by Darlington could land him back in jail.

Defying expectations of a subdued return, Speed Darlington took to Instagram to post a video of two rams locked in battle, symbolizing his readiness to confront challenges head-on. Captioning the clip, he wrote: “I’m back. To those fighting, one step back is not running away. It’s to gather energy and launch back with a banger!”

The post has since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions online as fans and critics alike await the next chapter in the feud between the two artists.
