Tems Reveals She Used to Imitate Lil Wayne Growing Up

Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, recently shared that she used to mimic American rapper Lil Wayne in her younger years. During an appearance on The Cruz Show on Real 92.3 FM, Tems revealed her early fascination with hip-hop, explaining that she would often “pretend” to be a rapper, taking inspiration from Wayne.

“Hip-hop is my thing. I used to pretend to be a rapper. I love Lil Wayne as well. I used to pretend to be Lil Wayne when I was younger,” she shared enthusiastically.

Tems, who is also Oscar-nominated, expressed her eagerness to meet the rap legend in person. “I’ve not met Wayne. I want to meet him so bad. Very soon I know I’m going to meet him,” she added, sharing her anticipation for a moment with her role model.

The revelation sheds light on the singer’s musical roots and admiration for the hip-hop genre, which continues to influence her creative journey.
