Cruise is currently in the United Kingdom filming the new instalment of ‘Mission Impossible’, which is expected to premiere on July 14, 2023.
According to Deadline, this was the reason behind his decision not to attend the gala that was hosted at the Dolby Theatre.
Lady Gaga Represented the Movie
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga not only attended the ceremony, but she also took to the stage to perform the Oscar-nominated ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ soundtrack song ‘Hold My Hand’.
The Top Gun sequel did win an Oscar, the one for Best Sound, ahead of movies such as ‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ ‘The Batman,’ ‘Elvis,’ and ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’.
