VeryDarkMan Releases Alleged Voice Recording of Zlatan Ibile in Ongoing Mohbad Controversy
Nigerian social media activist Vincent Otse Martins, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reignited public attention on the controversial death of singer Mohbad by releasing what he claims is a voice recording of a conversation between music promoter Sam Larry and rapper Zlatan Ibile.
The recording, which has rapidly circulated across social media platforms, appears to feature Zlatan speaking in Yoruba, reportedly expressing his unwillingness to involve himself in the public fallout surrounding Mohbad’s death. He allegedly cited the backlash and drama often associated with speaking out online as his reason for staying silent.
In a video shared via Instagram, VeryDarkMan issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Zlatan Ibile, demanding that the artist publicly clarify his role and explain his silence during the peak of calls for justice after Mohbad’s passing in 2023.

“I expect in 48 hours Zlatan will come out to explain what he knows and why he did not speak out when we were seeking justice for Mohbad,” VDM said. He further criticised those questioning his decision to revisit the matter, accusing them of being insincere in their demands for justice.
According to VDM, his motivation for reopening the case stems from the perception that the public has become indifferent, allowing critical questions to remain unanswered. “That’s why our government does not take us seriously,” he stated. “We move on too quickly.”
He also condemned what he described as deliberate efforts to bury the truth through intimidation and silence, calling out individuals who allegedly knew more but refused to speak. “Some people used bullying to cover it up, and Zlatan, you kept quiet,” he said.
As of now, Zlatan has yet to issue any public response to the claims. Online reactions remain divided, with some users defending Zlatan’s silence while others urge him to come forward and shed light on what he knows.
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Records, died under unclear circumstances in September 2023, sparking widespread outrage and demands for an independent investigation. His body is yet to be buried as investigations into the case continue.
