Why I Fell Out With 9ice – ID Cabasa

Renowned music producer and singer Olumide Ogunade, known in the industry as ID Cabasa, has shed light on the reason behind his falling out with his former protégé, Abolore Akande, famously known as 9ice. In an exclusive interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Cabasa disclosed that the rift stemmed from his decision to maintain a working relationship with 9ice’s ex-wife, Toni Seun Payne.

Cabasa’s Coded Tunes Record, which once managed artistes like 9ice and Olamide, had Payne on board as well. Following Payne’s involvement in artist management, the relationship between Cabasa, 9ice, and Payne became strained after the couple’s separation.

In his candid interview, Cabasa addressed the underlying cause of the dispute. He revealed that 9ice was displeased by Cabasa’s determination to continue collaborating with Payne, despite their romantic separation. Cabasa shared that he took this step to ensure the well-being of 9ice and Payne’s son, Zion, who was born in 2008.

Recalling the incident, Cabasa stated, “When I started pushing Olamide, you noticed I brought Toni Payne in. 9ice was angry but he had no idea why I brought her in. I brought her in because I needed to keep Payne and her son, Zion, close to 9ice. I felt 9ice may never see his son again if she takes Zion abroad.”

Cabasa’s decision to maintain a professional relationship with Payne despite the personal dynamics highlights his concern for the family’s unity, particularly ensuring that the father-son bond remained intact.

This revelation provides insight into the complexities of artist-management relationships within the music industry, where personal and professional dynamics can often intersect in unexpected ways. The rift between Cabasa and 9ice underscores the challenges that individuals behind the scenes face while navigating the intricate web of personal relationships and artistic collaborations.
