Why Many Women are Unmarried in Their 30s – Kanayo O. Kanayo
Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has offered his perspective on why some women remain unmarried in their 30s, attributing it to choices made in their younger years.
In a recent interview with News Central, Kanayo explained that many women in their 20s prioritize relationships with wealthy, often older, married men over building connections with younger, marriage-minded suitors.
“Some girls start dating rich, sometimes older, men while in university at 18, 19, or 20. These men provide them with cars and houses, creating a high standard they operate on,” the actor said. “As a result, they reject advances from younger men who could have been prospective husbands.”
Kanayo elaborated that this pattern often continues into a woman’s mid-20s, leaving them single by the time they graduate. According to him, as they approach 30, societal perceptions shift, and their options for marriage diminish.
“At 23, she’s living the high life. By 28, she becomes a prayer point. After 33, it’s a state of emergency because at that level, men are no longer coming around,” he added.
The actor’s remarks have sparked conversations about societal pressures, gender expectations, and personal choices related to marriage, a topic that remains deeply significant in many cultures.
