Wizkid Becomes First African Artiste To Surpass 11 Billion Spotify Streams
Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid has achieved another major career milestone after becoming the first African artiste to surpass 11 billion streams on Spotify across all credits.
The achievement was announced on Tuesday by music statistics platform ChartsAfrica in a post shared on X.
Celebrating the accomplishment, ChartsAfrica described Wizkid as a global superstar while highlighting his record-breaking impact on Spotify.
“First African artist to reach each milestone in Spotify history,” the platform wrote.
“Wizkid becomes the first African artiste ever to cross 11 billion Spotify streams across all credits.”
The milestone comes shortly after the release of “State of Mind,” Wizkid’s latest collaboration with DJ Tunez, which dropped on May 15, 2026.
According to reports, the single recorded more than 685,000 global streams on Spotify within its first day of release.
Wizkid has continued to cement his position as one of Africa’s most commercially successful music exports, with several international collaborations and chart-topping projects contributing to his streaming dominance over the years.
The Grammy-winning singer remains one of the most streamed African artistes globally and has consistently broken digital music records across multiple platforms.
