Nigerian music sensation Wizkid has made history, becoming the first African artist to surpass 8 billion streams on Spotify. The streams include both his solo work and collaborations, solidifying his position as a global music icon.

Among his extensive catalogue, Wizkid’s chart-topping collaboration with Canadian superstar Drake, “One Dance,” stands out as his most-streamed track on the platform, boasting over 2 billion streams. The song, which holds a Guinness World Record as the first single to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify, has been a cornerstone of Wizkid’s international success.

Additionally, his fourth studio album, “Made In Lagos (Deluxe Edition),” is his most-streamed project on the platform, amassing nearly 1 billion streams.

Wizkid’s accomplishment further cements his influence in the global music scene, as he continues to break barriers for African artists.

Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian artist Burna Boy follows closely, with 7.2 billion streams, making him the second most-streamed African artist on Spotify. Burna Boy also holds the distinction of being the most-followed Afrobeats artist on the platform.

These achievements highlight the growing global appeal of Afrobeats and the rising prominence of African artists in the music industry.
