Zenith Bank Expands UK Footprint With Manchester Branch Launch
Zenith Bank Plc has announced the opening of a new branch in Manchester, United Kingdom, marking a major step in its international expansion strategy.
The official launch, scheduled for March 17, 2026, is expected to bring together key stakeholders including government officials from Nigeria and the UK, regulators, investors, and business leaders – highlighting the growing economic relationship between both markets.
The Manchester branch is designed to complement the bank’s existing UK operations and serve as a strategic hub for businesses involved in international trade and investment. It will offer services such as corporate banking, trade finance, and treasury solutions to clients operating across the UK, Europe, and Africa.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Group Managing Director and CEO Adaora Umeoji described the expansion as a significant milestone in the bank’s journey to becoming a leading global African financial institution.
She noted that Manchester’s strong commercial ecosystem makes it an ideal location to strengthen financial connections between UK-based businesses and opportunities across Africa’s growing markets.
Founded in 1990 by Jim Ovia, Zenith Bank has grown into one of Africa’s most prominent banking institutions, with a strong reputation for profitability, innovation, and disciplined risk management.
Headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, the bank operates over 500 branches nationwide and has expanded its footprint across several African countries, including Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Beyond Africa, Zenith Bank maintains a presence in major global financial centres such as London, Paris, Dubai, and China – reinforcing its commitment to facilitating international trade and investment flows.
The Manchester branch will work closely with the bank’s London office and broader global network to support clients looking to expand across borders and unlock new business opportunities.
With this latest expansion, Zenith Bank continues to advance its vision of building a globally connected African banking institution that strengthens economic ties between Africa and the rest of the world.
