Actress Lizzy Gold Calls Out Her Father Over Entitlement Mentality

Nollywood actress Lizzy Gold has taken to social media to express disappointment over what she described as her father’s “entitlement mentality” after she sent him a generous monetary gift for Easter.

In a video that was later deleted from her Instagram account, the actress recounted a recent exchange with her father that left her feeling unappreciated, despite her consistent efforts to support him financially.

Gold, known for her roles in popular Nigerian films, revealed that she usually sends money to her father during festive periods as a surprise, often transferring the funds late at night so he wakes up to the gesture. According to her, these surprises have typically been met with heartfelt prayers – a response she says motivates her to give more.

However, the Easter gesture took a different turn.

“This time, he sent me a message early in the day saying, ‘Baby how far na? Do Easter for your papa na.’ I pretended not to see it,” Gold said in the video. “Later that night, around 2 a.m., I transferred a huge sum – 10 times what I usually send – expecting the kind of prayers that would uplift me the next morning.”

But to her surprise, the only response she received was a curt “thanks.”

Feeling hurt, the actress said she called her father to address the matter, only for him to explain that he had prayed for her in his heart. Gold, however, insisted that verbal expressions of gratitude and prayers matter to her.

“I don’t pluck money from trees,” she said. “I work tirelessly. The prayers ginger me to do more. A simple ‘thank you’ with no prayers after that kind of gesture felt like I wasn’t appreciated.”

Her candid remarks have since sparked conversations online about gratitude, family expectations, and financial boundaries between parents and their adult children.
