American Rapper Sues Ride-Hailing Company for Declining Ride Request Due to Her Size

American rapper Dajua Blanding, known as Dank DeMoss, has filed a lawsuit against ride-hailing company Lyft, accusing the service of discrimination after a driver allegedly refused to pick her up due to her size.

DeMoss, who weighs 489 pounds, captured the incident on video and shared it on TikTok, describing the experience as humiliating. Speaking to CBS News, she expressed her frustration over the situation.

“I was hurt and embarrassed. I have been in that same type of car many times and never had an issue. This was someone who was discriminating against me just because of my weight.”

Her legal team argues that the driver’s actions violated Michigan’s anti-discrimination laws, which include weight as a protected characteristic.

In response, Lyft issued a statement reiterating its stance against discrimination.

“Our community guidelines and terms of service explicitly prohibit harassment or discrimination.”

The lawsuit has sparked discussions about inclusivity and bias in ride-hailing services, with advocates calling for stronger enforcement of anti-discrimination policies.
