Canelo Alvarez Maintains He’s Still the Best Pro Boxer in the World
Mexican professional boxer, Canelo Alvarez has made a bold claim of maintaining that he remains the best boxer in the world at the moment despite suffering a second career defeat against Russian champion Dmitry Bivol.
In the wake of the overwhelming wave of criticism that his defeat generated, Alvarez maintained that in his mind he is still clear on his talent. In a recent interview with Ole, Alvarez said:
“I don’t know how they handle that kind of thing [rankings] but I still feel the best, the truth is that I’m still the best. Tell me another fighter who is trying at other weights, going up and down in weight, wanting to achieve other things.
“Nobody has done that, I risk everything to continue making history, when I don’t need to risk anything, I’ve already achieved a lot of things. So, personally I still feel I’m the best fighter in the world.”
His next fight is scheduled for September 17 where he takes on Kazakhstani professional boxer, Gennady Golovkin fondly dubbed “GGG” or “Triple G”.
