I Don’t Have Personal Relationship with Wizkid, Burna Boy – Davido

Afrobeats star Davido has revealed that his once-close relationships with fellow Nigerian music giants Wizkid and Burna Boy have faded over time.

In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, the Unavailable crooner said while there was a time he shared personal bonds with the two artists, that is no longer the case. However, he noted that the evolution of Afrobeats has shifted the spotlight beyond the trio often dubbed the “Big 3.”

“I don’t have a personal relationship with them [Wizkid and Burna Boy]. I did at some point in time… The conversation is bigger than the ‘Big 3’ right now; there’s Rema, there’s Ayra Starr and other artists. Right now, I think the three of us understand that it is bigger than us,” Davido said.

The singer acknowledged the rise of a new generation of Nigerian artists who are making waves internationally, suggesting that the focus of Afrobeats has broadened significantly.

Addressing speculation about his relationship with Tiwa Savage, Davido described her as family despite recent tensions between them. “Tiwa Savage is my sister for life. I love her and her child, we are family. Our fight is just like a brother and sister’s fight. I will never allow anything to happen to her,” he added.

The comments come amid ongoing fan conversations about unity among Nigeria’s biggest music exports and the growing influence of newer voices in the global Afrobeats scene.
