Resident Evil Drops an Eerie Trailer for Animated Film Death Island
Resident Evil: Death Island, the latest animated film in Capcom’s famous survival horror franchise, revealed its first teaser trailer.
As reported on CBR, the teaser trailer, shared by IGN on YouTube, shows series protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield up to their usual zombie-shooting habits, this time on Alcatraz island, for the CG-animated Resident Evil film. Jill Valentine, a fan-favorite Resident Evil character who has been largely sidelined from most of the franchise’s recent entries aside from the 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3, also makes a surprise appearance at the end of the trailer.

Resident Evil’s Previous Island Settings
This is not the first time that the Resident Evil franchise has featured an island setting, both in games and other media. 2005’s Resident Evil 4 featured a sizable island location that saw Leon up against mobs of militaristic enemies and Krauser, an old mercenary from his past. The upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4, slated for a March release date, is expected to include this section of the game.
The 2015 manga series Resident Evil: Heavenly Island, written by Naoki Serizawa, also took place on a sunny Caribbean island where a film crew was shooting Idol Survival, a popular TV show starring scantily-clad models. After a deadly biohazard outbreak occurred on the island, Claire Redfield of Resident Evil 2 fame was called to the locale to investigate.
Resident Evil: Death Island will be distributed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in all territories aside from Japan in the summer of 2023.
