Wizkid Reveals Women as the Driving Force Behind His Music
Nigerian music sensation and Grammy winner, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has shared the key inspiration behind his artistry – women.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Afrobeats star described women as “Gods on earth” and credited them for inspiring his music. The statement, now deleted, aligns with Wizkid’s long-standing reputation for creating romantic tracks celebrating women.
His latest album, Morayo, dedicated to his late mother, Morayo Jane Balogun, has been making waves globally. The album shattered records on Spotify, achieving 48 million streams within six days and surpassing South African singer Tyla’s previous milestone of 46.4 million streams for an African album in its first week. Morayo also set a new benchmark, securing 52.8 million streams for the biggest opening week by an African artist on the platform.
Wizkid’s tribute to his mother and his consistent celebration of women continue to resonate with fans worldwide, reinforcing his status as a leading figure in the Afrobeats movement.
