Yul Edochie Reveals Why He Charges ₦20 Million for Event Appearances
Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred conversation online after revealing the hefty fee he charges to appear at public events.
In a post shared via his Instagram page on Monday, the actor and filmmaker disclosed that his standard appearance fee is ₦20 million. But according to him, the amount reflects more than just his celebrity status – it also accounts for what he describes as a spiritual entourage.
“When I charge you ₦20 million to make an appearance at your event, I do not come alone,” he wrote. “I come with all my ancestors and ten thousand spirits from Nteje and Umudioka.”
Edochie made the comment while reflecting on his presence at the burial of the father of Barrister Tochukwu Nweke (SAN), an event he attended in Nsugbe, Anambra State.
He added: “On this day, Nsugbe was on fire. I stepped out to support my good friend, Barr. Tochukwu Nweke (SAN), Omelora, as he laid his father to rest. Isi Mmili Ji Ofor 1 of Igbo Land. Ezedike 1 na Nteje Aborgu.”
Known for his strong ties to his Igbo heritage and his flair for dramatic declarations, Edochie’s post appeared to blend satire and cultural pride, prompting varied reactions from fans and followers. While some took it in jest, others speculated whether the actor was serious about his ₦20 million price tag.
Yul Edochie, son of Nollywood legend Pete Edochie, has built a reputation for his outspoken views and recent forays into traditional and spiritual commentary, often sparking debate across social media.
