Busta Rhymes Honoured with President’s Lifetime Achievement Award
Hip-hop icon Busta Rhymes has been recognized with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to music, business, and community service. The prestigious honour celebrates individuals who have made significant impacts through their work and philanthropy.
Busta shared the news on Instagram on January 30, revealing his selection as a 2025 recipient. A graphic accompanying his post highlighted his influence as an international recording artist, entrepreneur, and humanitarian. In an exuberant caption, the rapper expressed gratitude, writing, “THE BLESSINGS DON’T STOP SO WE WON’T EVER STOP!! … THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE!! THE MOST HIGH IS THE GREATEST!!!!”
Although further details about the selection process were not disclosed, Busta appears to be among the final honorees recognized under the Biden-Harris administration.
New Music and Legal Challenges
The recognition comes shortly after the release of Busta Rhymes’ latest project, Dragon Season… The Awakening. The six-track effort features guest appearances from YG Marley and production by Roc Marciano, Rockwilder, Ted Smooth, Theory Hazit, and Johnny G.
Amid the celebration, the rapper is also facing legal troubles. According to The New York Post, Busta was involved in an altercation with his personal assistant, Dashiel Gables, on January 10. The dispute allegedly escalated when Busta punched Gables multiple times in the lobby of his Brooklyn apartment building, leaving him with a swollen eye.
Following the incident, Gables called 911 and was treated at a local hospital. Busta later turned himself in to the NYPD and was issued a desk appearance ticket for misdemeanour assault, attempted assault, and harassment. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 2.
