Liverpool Ready to Reward Forward Diogo Jota With New Contract
Liverpool have rewarded Diogo Jota with a lucrative new deal after an incredible start to his Anfield career, as reported by Telegraph
Jota initially committed to Liverpool for five years when signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £45 million in 2020 and will now be handed a significant salary increase with the extension that was confirmed by the club.
The Portuguese forward who is currently injured, will miss the start of the Premier League season when Liverpool kick-off against Fulham this weekend. He will, however, step up his return to training shortly having recovered from a hamstring injury.
Jota’s development has been fundamental to the evolution of Jurgen Klopp’s strikeforce with the 25-year-old contributing 34 goals in his 85 Liverpool appearances.
By extending his deal, the longevity of the new look forward line will be preserved as Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz – all in their early or mid-20s – reduce the average age of the Merseysiders’ attack.
Klopp has vowed to rotate his front three more regularly given the quality of options available; Salah, Nunez, Roberto Firmino, Diaz and Jota all providing high-class alternatives.
