Oluwadolarz Reveals Why Some Brands Avoid Working with Him

Nigerian skit maker Oluwadolarz has opened up about the challenges he faces in securing brand collaborations, revealing that his stage name often leads to misconceptions about his character.

Speaking on the Open Up podcast, the comedian, whose real name is Olamide Ogunleye, explained that many brands hesitate to associate with him because they assume his name, Oluwadolarz, is linked to fraudulent activities.

He recounted the origin of his stage name, saying, “Dolarz” started in 2010 when I was a stand-up comedian. People gave me the nickname after I cracked a joke about the rise and fall of the dollar. Over time, I began responding to ‘Dolarz’ with ‘Oluwa is involved,’ which eventually led to the name Oluwadolarz.

However, he noted that the name has led to misunderstandings. “Because of the name Oluwadolarz, a lot of people assumed I was a Yahoo boy or a bad guy. Many brands don’t want to work with me due to the misconception that I am using comedy as a cover-up,” he said.

The comedian recently made headlines after his fiancée and the mother of his child, Ifeluv, announced their breakup, accusing him of infidelity and financial neglect.
