Wolves Inflict Man City’s 1st Premier League Defeat

Manchester City’s undefeated streak in the Premier League this season came to an end with a 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton on Saturday.

Ruben Dias unintentionally scored an own goal, and Wolves’ Hwang Hee-chan netted a goal, snapping City’s six-game winning streak at the start of the Premier League season. Julian Alvarez managed to score a free-kick goal for City in the match.

Just three days after suffering their first loss of the season to Newcastle in the League Cup, this defeat marked City’s back-to-back losses for the first time since January.

With Rodri serving a suspension, Mateo Kovacic started for City. Josko Gvardiol was replaced by Nathan Ake in City’s defence, while Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips were on the bench.

Wolves took the lead in the 13th minute when City lost possession, and Pedro Neto took advantage of it. He advanced from his own half into the visitors’ box, and his cross was accidentally diverted into City’s goal by Dias, with Ederson unable to stop it.

City has now conceded the opening goal in four of its last five games across all competitions.

City managed to level the score in the 58th minute when Alvarez expertly curled a free-kick into the top corner of the net.

However, Wolves regained the lead just eight minutes later. Hwang, the South Korean international, had his initial shot blocked, but Matheus Cunha reacted swiftly to pass the rebound back to Hwang, who scored on his second attempt.
